Focus on logistics projects for fast moving goods

Port of Antwerp-Bruges is expanding the Maritime Logistics Zone in phases, aiming to generate additional maritime cargo for the terminals in the outer port and provide space for businesses in a forward-looking environment. The current tender for the development of an 8.5-hectare site focuses on logistics projects that align with deep-sea and short-sea activities.

Specifically, the Maritime Logistics Zone offers opportunities for companies active in:

  • Cold chain: Its strategic location reduces lead times, enabling cold chain goods to be transported efficiently and reliably.
  • Consumer goods: The proximity to deep-sea and short-sea platforms facilitates both intercontinental supply chains and regional distribution.
  • High and heavy: The presence of specialised terminal facilities for oversized and heavy cargo ensures smooth handling and transportation.

The tendering process will begin on 27 February 2025 and close on 9 May 2025. Interested parties can get more information and register at: https://www.portofantwerpbruges.com/en/maritime-logistics-zone.

Dirk De fauw, Mayor of the City of Bruges and Vice-President of Port of Antwerp-Bruges, stated: "With this tendering process, we are taking an important step in the further development of Zeebrugge as the logistics hub of Europe. Its strategic location and excellent maritime connections make this site a unique opportunity for innovative companies seeking to invest in the future of distribution and logistics. This is not only an investment in economic growth but also in sustainable development and job creation for the region."
William Demoor, Chief Customer Relations Officer at Port of Antwerp-Bruges, remarked: “The demand for logistics sites in a dynamic port environment such as Zeebrugge remains high. Thanks to the exceptional location of the Maritime Logistics Zone close to the deepsea & shortsea platform and the wide range of value-added services present within the Zeebrugge platform, this tendering process offers a unique opportunity for companies looking to develop their logistics activities.”
This is an indicative plan. The Maritime Logistics Zone will be developed in phases and in a market-driven way. Port of Antwerp-Bruges reserves the right, within the framework of this tendering process, to adjust the proposed layout of the Maritime Logistics Zone in order to achieve an optimal infill.
